Three mountains, one incredible team! Chetwood Bank colleagues complete Three Peaks Challenge!

A team of intrepid adventurers from Chetwood Bank are feeling on top of the world (well, on top of the UK’s highest mountains at least) after completing the epic Three Peaks Challenge.

The group of 13 colleagues braved 26 miles of gruelling hiking, 3,400 metres of ascent, soaring temperatures and a lack of sleep as they conquered Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in June.

Beginning the challenge in Fort William, Scotland, the team scaled Ben Nevis before being driven down to the Lake District where they walked through the night to climb Scafell Pike. After a final journey to North Wales, they scrambled to the top of Snowdon, reaching the summit within the 24-hour time limit.

Thanks to their incredible efforts, the team raised £10,500 for Chetwood Bank’s chosen charity partner, Wood Street Mission. The charity supports families on low incomes across Manchester and Salford, providing practical help to meet children’s day-to-day needs and to improve their life chances.

Ben Mitchell, Director of Savings at Chetwood Bank, said: “It was an absolutely incredible experience with so many ups and downs packed into just 24 hours."

“I originally volunteered for the Three Peaks Challenge because I thought it would be a fun way to raise some money for our partner charity and get a bit fitter at the same time. But it was a lot more than that and I think all of us, at some point in the event, wondered if we would be forced to stop the challenge."

“The support and encouragement of everyone else in the team, backed by the purpose of raising money for the Wood Street Mission, helped to keep us moving forward. It really shows the camaraderie and team spirit we’ve got here at Chetwood Bank."

“The charity does wonderful work in helping get children from disadvantaged backgrounds into school and equipped to learn, and it was worth the blisters and aching limbs to support their excellent cause.”
